Instructional coaches seek opportunities to leverage talents, resources, and tasks to reach new levels. We have deep understanding of high-quality professional learning strategies, research on change, powerful adult learning designs, learning theories, and have a growth mindset. In our buildings we fulfill the following five roles.

Classroom Supporter: We model or demonstrate teaching, co-teach, observe and reflect on teaching all while students are in the room. We act as listeners, ask questions about teachers' thinking/decisions/considerations, paraphrase, identify and challenge assumptions, and co-plan with teachers using data.

Instructional & Curriculum Specialist: We support how the curriculum is facilitated for learning including using assessments to inform instructional decisions and planning authentic and engaging instruction for all students aligned to Jeffco Generations and Jeffco's Curriculum. Facilitating the design of the learning process and adaptation of instruction to meet the needs of all students is also a part of this role.

Data Coach: We support and guide educators to make sound instructional decisions, based on a variety of quality data sources, to strengthen both student learning and professional practice. This work focuses on identifying, analyzing, interpreting, and acting upon data in a timely and effective manner to support student and teacher growth.

Mentor: We co-coordinate (with principal and leadership teams) the support of new teachers which includes the moral, emotional, psychological, and instructional supports, so that they gain confidence and efficacy. We empower new teachers to move to creativity and innovation, balancing their support with developing their capacity. We move in and out of consulting, coaching, collaborating, and problem-solving for the end goal of accelerated effectiveness that directly impacts student learning.

Catalyst for Change/School Improvement Leader: We are often viewed as the junction between administration and staff. We act with a vision for the school's success and a moral commitment to the success of all students. We are committed to building a culture of continuous improvement and help contribute to the conditions and structures that support it. We participate on leadership teams and gather trend data on implementation of innovations and initiatives that support the realization of the school vision.
